Taphorn’s Twelve Pack: College Football Week 7 – Here’s your weekly twelve pack of College Football betting advice, drink at your own risk. Crack open six bets that I like and six bets that I don’t and pray for a great weekend without a hangover.

Six Bets I Like
Oregon Ducks -13.5 at Cal Golden Bears (Fri)
Cal’s lone win came against an FCS program. Oregon has been bitten by the injury bug but isn’t out of the playoff picture yet. Ducks should have enough talent to get revenge for last year’s game, Cal’s only 2020 win. Bet amount: 2 units.
Michigan State Spartans -4.5 at Indiana Hoosiers
The Sparty train rolls on. They’ve become a very balanced offense behind Kenneth Walker and Peyton Thorne. Indiana could still be a good team; their three losses are all against top 7 teams nationally. Bet amount: 1 unit.
Alabama Crimson Tide -16.5 at Mississippi State Bulldogs
Not many worse signs for a team than playing an angry Alabama team. Nick Saban’s team got the wake up call he’s been asking for. If the young Tide can block out the cowbells this could get out of hand. Bet amount: 2 units.
Stanford Cardinal -1.5 at Washington State Cougars
David Shaw’s team has surpassed expectations this year so far. They get an extra day after playing Arizona State last Friday night. The extra time may be enough to edge out the Cougars and cover the spread. Bet amount: 1 unit.
Arizona State Sun Devils +0.5 at Utah Utes
The Sun Devils are in the driver’s seat in the Pac-12 South right now and are playing great football. Utah has struggled this season, but Salt Lake City is always a tough place to play. Herm Edward’s team plays and wins the game though. Bet amount: ½ unit.
Oklahoma State Cowboys at Texas Longhorns -5.5
Texas has the talent, that much is clear. They’ll be disappointed after giving up a big lead to the Sooners a week ago, but they should be good enough to bounce back at home against the undefeated Pokes. Bet amount: ½ unit.
Degenerate Little Birdie’s Bonus Bet: Vanderbilt Commodore +18.5 at South Carolina Gamecocks. The bird is going against his fowl family here and siding with the nerds in Nashville. Bold call, let’s see if it pays off.
6 Bets to Avoid
Clemson Tigers -14.5 at Syracuse Orange
Clemson comes off a bye week and tries to get the ship straightened out on this season to bounce back in the ACC. I still don’t trust the Tigers’ offense though. Staying away for the time being.
Auburn Tigers +3.5 at Arkansas Razorbacks
Can Sam Pittmann’s team bounce back after a beat down from Georgia and a missed opportunity to beat Ole Miss? Auburn faced Georgia’s wrath a week ago so there’s no sympathy from the Tigers in this one. Should be a good matchup in the SEC West.
UCF Golden Knights at Cincinnati Bearcats -20.5
This game was supposed to be one of the biggest in the AAC this year. An injury to Dillon Gabriel and a loss to Army has watered down the matchup. The Knights still have some talent to make things interesting, but the Bearcats are on a mission to play in the CFP.
Florida Gators -10.5 at LSU Tigers
The last two victims of the Kentucky Wildcats square off this weekend and it’s not basketball season. Seems like a strange occurrence, but that’s the reality of the SEC right now. It’s not often the Tigers are double digit underdogs in Baton Rouge, but LSU is struggling mightily and Kayshon Boutte just found his way to the injury report for the remainder of the season.
Texas A&M Aggies -8.5 at Missouri Tigers
Based solely off last weekend this should be a runaway for Jimbo’s team, but the rest of the season gives cause for concern. The Tigers don’t play much defense, so it’ll be a good opportunity for Zach Calzada to continue building on his performance against Alabama. Until I see more, I’m not sure I believe the corner has been turned.
Miami (FL) Hurricanes at North Carolina Tar Heels -6.5
The ACC in total has been disappointing and these two teams are a big part of that equation. Carolina especially after coming into the season with championship aspirations. D’Eriq King’s season is done, a sad ending to a great college football career.
