The Iowa Hawkeyes feature one of the most elite defenses in the nation this year. The team allows 13 points per game, for the fourth-best in the country and turn their opponents over at the highest rate coming away with more than two takeaways per contest.
On the other side, Purdue also features a pretty solid defense but the Boilermakers can’t afford any mistakes if they want to compete in this game. The quarterback question still remains up in the air as Plummer and O’Connell have both been featured this season. Iowa has a lot of question marks surrounding them such as, are they really the second-best in the country? Some think so, others not so much. Looking at their schedule their best win of the season has come against a Penn State team that ended up playing without their quarterback due to an undisclosed injury. The Hawkeye offense is mediocre at best ranking 119th in the nation and dead last in the Big Ten in total yards from scrimmage.

Since Jeff Brohm took over the Purdue Boilermakers he has the Iowa Hawkeyes number. Brohm is 3-1 against Iowa in his career and it’s worth noting that the Hawkeyes haven’t been great this season as double-digit favorites failing to barely cover the total in games.
This will be a low-scoring affair as the Boilermakers don’t have enough offense to compete in this game. While Iowa should come away with a win in this game, don’t expect a high-scoring contest as the elite defense will have another strong outing.
