DraftKings to Launch a Retail Sportsbook in Golden Nugget Lake Charles Louisiana
In August, DraftKings and Golden Nugget announced an agreement that would allow DraftKings to acquire in an all-stock transaction that came out to be approximately $1.56 billion. DraftKings saw this as leverage to enter new markets due to the renowned brand’s success in the gaming industry. Voters approved sports betting to take place in 55 of the 64 Louisiana Parishes across the state.
DraftKings Will Have the Largest Sportsbook at the Lake Charles Location
Golden Nugget Casino Lake Charles and DraftKings are set on launching a retail sportsbook in the specific location on November 10th at 2 pm. This will all be pending licensing and regulatory approvals as the companies stated in a joint release. The sportsbook will be the largest in the Lake Charles location inside the Blue Martini bar.
The plan is to have a permanent DraftKings and lounge that will be open to the public by the Summer of 2022. As of right now, the dimensions of the lounge will have six ticketing boxes where bettors will be able to engage with employees to place a wager on a game. There will also be a total of thirty self-service kiosks throughout the casino floor.
Hours of operations will be from 10 am to 11 pm from Monday to Friday. On the weekends, the casino will have extended hours as the DraftKings sportsbook will be open from 9 am until midnight. The lounge that is planned to open its door by the Summer of 2022 is an effort to engage more people to come to the location.
A permanent 10,000 square-foot DraftKings Sportsbook will feature at least 300 seats, an odds board, and big-screen televisions throughout the lounge. In Louisiana, retail gambling facilities have been taking bets as customers can place wagers on various markets which include mainstream sports, collegiate sports, and other sports leagues.
Mobile sports betting or any other online wagering will take some time as Louisiana is one of the newest markets to enter the sports betting industry. Both companies have announced that the mobile app will go live once the licenses have been reviewed and approved by the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
