Caesars Has Eye on Virginia For Next State to Operate In
Caesars is looking to move to a new zoning area in Schoolfield, Danville in hopes to showcase a new casino in Virginia. For now, the Danville Planning Commission is going to have to approve the request of Caesars for this to go through.
The area specifically that Caesars has wanted is the Dan River site at Schoolfield, West Danville. The location is currently set up as an industrial site, so of course the location has to be rezoned.
How Soon This Could Be Discussed
The application that Caesars has sent in is going to be discussed at a planning meeting this week. Potentially, it could be discussed next week depending on if the Commission has anything else to discuss first.
However, the Planning Commission Chairman Harold Garrison has already stated that he is expecting the proposal but does not want to give too much away on it. By discussion out loud so far, it is difficult to get a feel for how he is feeling since he does not want to make his mind up before anything is presented.
Potential New Casino Details
The new casino has expectations of creating multiple jobs. The new facility would bring forth around 1,300 full time jobs and then an additional 900 during the construction process.
The jobs have postings of roughly $35,000 to $47,000 annually. Of course, these could change once the casino opens. These jobs could take place soon, especially the construction ones, but the casino could look to break ground by December.
These casino jobs could be expected by 2022 or within the first quarter of 2023. The construction is also expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2023, with the casino opening within the next few months of that.
There would be multiple restaurants and plenty of bars to go around for guests. In addition, there would also be around 300 rooms in the four star hotel, a live entertainment venue around 2,500 square feet, a massive 35,000 square foot conference room, a large pool and spa facility.
Looking at the gaming floor, there have been talks about having roughly 2,000 slot machines, 75 table games and 16 poker tables. The sportsbook would also be added too, so poker players and sports bettors could easily go back and forth through the content.
Promising Outlook for Caesars
Caesars Entertainment has a lot going for them, especially within this area. The outlook for this location is something that they have had their eye on for some time now.
Caesars is the type of company that enjoys customer satisfaction and customer retention. A new facility like this would allow them to give their guests a top of the line experience along with a new atmosphere.
Of course there are going to be some things that need to be worked out, such as the zoning requirements set forth by Virginia and the local area. Caesars, if approved, could definitely make this location work for them.
