Champions League Favorites After The First Leg Of The Quarter Finals
The Champions League Quarter Finals gave fans a lot of great action! With the end of the first leg, the results leave us with a better idea of who looks the best to win it all. Let’s dive into how the Champions League matches went and who might end up going through to the Champions League semi-finals.
Real Madrid vs Chelsea
Madrid looked as forceful as ever against Chelsea yesterday. A goal by Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio was enough to get past the Blues. Additionally, a red card by Chelsea defender, Ben Chillwell, was a helpful part of Madrid’s victory.
Madrid looks poised to take control of their next Champions League game against Chelsea. They should see themselves go through to the semi finals. Madrid looks in a dangerous position to go the distance once again. The squad chemistry seems to never fail at the moment, and their current form in Europe is one of the best.
Manchester City vs Bayern Munich
Manchester City took a dominant win over Bayern Munich winning 3-0. The impressive win proves that oddsmakers may be correct in having them as the leading favorites to win it all. City gave a ton of trouble to the newly coached Bayern team under Thomas Tuchel.
It will be very difficult at this point for Bayern Munich to climb back and make a comeback. Manchester City look way too powerful with all their pieces aligned.
Manchester City are most likely going through after the result of this week. They could play Real Madrid in a thriller of a Semi-final series. I do strongly believe that the winner of either Real Madrid or Manchester City will go on to win it all.
Napoli vs AC Milan
AC Milan closed a very tight game out at San Siro to take a 1-0 win to start the Quarter Final series. Napoli looked very mediocre without starman Victor Oismhen. Oishmens absence was a key reason why Napoli did not perform to their higher expectations.
The next match played in Napoli should see the home side have a better advantage to win and go through to the semi finals. It is vital that Victor Oismhen returns for their next match and is fit enough to make an impact.
I cannot see this Napoli team reaching the height of success without their star player. Napoli is still very much in this and is an underdog to win the whole thing still.
Benfica vs Inter Milan
Benfica were not as strong this week as they’ve been in the past. Inter Milan got away with a 2-0 win in Portugal. This gives them a big Champions League advantage as they will return to the San Siro with the lead.
This should spell trouble for Benfica who will definitely not have an easy time to find a win at San Siro. Initially, Benfica looked like a stronger side coming into the Champions League Quarter Finals. However, that narrative might change after this first match.
