UEFA EURO 2020 Favorites | Should You Bet on England or the Underdogs?

The Round of 16 is finished and the quarter-finals are set. We had our fair share of high-scoring games, late-game winners, and upsets. The future bet odds have been set and England has become the favorite after their 2-0 victory over a tough matchup in Germany and a second-round matchup with Ukraine.

Sportsbooks have determined this is enough for England to be considered a +170 bet to win the tournament now despite a pretty poor group stage that had England fans incredibly worried and Southgate’s job well in question.

UEFA EURO 2020 Favorites

England is, however, not a clear favorite considering some of the rest of the teams on the table. The #1 ranked Belgium is still alive. Italy, with their 31-game unbeaten streak, are a very impressive squad. Spain is very young, but they are no walk in the park. Safe to say, there are some really good underdog future bets for this tournament out.

Are Belgium Worthwhile Despite Injuries?

Belgium entered the tournament as the favorites, but De Bruyne and Hazard have been battling injuries and have barely been able to play a full ninety minutes. For their matchup against Italy, De Bruyne and Eden Hazard will probably be absent, which is a massive loss.

However, despite how big of a loss those two players are, Belgium are a deep team. They have played without Hazard and De Bruyne this tournament so far, and have kept up with the best of them. If they’re on the field, however, Belgium is severely underrated.

At +700, Belgium are a definite underdog, and although they shouldn’t be a favorite at this stage without their two best players, their defense is still together, their attack is certainly scary with Lukaku at the helm.

Their path to the final makes this bet risky. They have to get past Italy and then the winner of Spain/Switzerland, but Belgium is the #1 ranked team in the world and De Bruyne and Hazard’s absence should not make anyone scared of betting on this Belgium team.

Italy Have Not Lost Since 2018

This might be the best bet of all the future options. Italy at +430 is disrespectful to a team that hasn’t lost in 31 matches. They gave up their first goal in 1,168 minutes to Austria in their Round of 16 victory. 1,168 minutes.

That’s just about thirteen games. Italy’s squad holds a really solid balance between a veteran defense with a young yet brilliant goalkeeper. They have an experienced attack that still moves decisively and have shown they can shoot and score from anywhere.

Italy is the best team in the tournament right now because they are full. Watching Spinazzola move around the field dynamically from left-back, and the whole Italian squad filling in around him, is beautiful.

Their formation flows like water and that is so difficult to deal with. They haven’t looked uncomfortable against anyone. Anybody who loves soccer must enjoy watching this Italian team play. They are fundamental but creative. +430 is a worthwhile bet. Italy vs. England could easily be the final and this England team would surely be an underdog.
