SBC, in partnership with SMH and the Arveladze Foundation, is proud to announce its backing for the charity football match, Game4Ukraine 2023.
This momentous event will feature past and present Ukrainian football stars, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Andriy Shevchenko, as team captains, aiming to raise funds dedicated to supporting Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts.
Game4Ukraine will be a unique fusion of music, football, and unity, serving as a powerful platform to raise awareness about the humanitarian plight in Ukraine and to raise funds for the reconstruction of the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynskyi School in Chernihiv Oblast.
Apart from Arsenal player Zinchenko and footballing legend Andriy Shevchenko, the event will witness the participation and support of world-renowned movie stars, record-breaking musical artists, and a host of the world’s most recognisable footballers.
Alongside a combined donation by SBC and the Arveladze Foundation, donations can be made prior to the match, by simply texting 70515. All donations will go to Common Goal, a football-oriented charitable movement that creates opportunities for stakeholders in football to contribute to global goals, and the charity UNITED24 – the official fundraising platform for Ukraine.
“It is a great honour to contribute to such a fantastic event and to continue our support for a truly worthy cause. SBC has always felt a strong kinship with the people of Ukraine, having many Ukrainian colleagues, contacts and friends. Since the war started, SBC has helped raise over £261,000 in charitable donations for Ukraine and we are always eager to continue contributing to humanitarian aid.”
– Dennis Algreen, Marketing Director, SBC.
In 2022, SBC in partnership with several organisations within the gambling sector, came together to create a GoFundMe campaign to aid the people of Ukraine. The campaign raised money for the charity Choose Love, a charity focused on providing refugees and displaced people with everything from lifesaving search and rescue boats to food and legal advice. With many prolific gambling industry companies providing generous donations, the campaign was able to raise over £261,000 in charitable donations for Ukraine.
The game is set to kick off at 6 pm, with both teams adopting the colours of the Ukrainian flag for their respective kits.
Team Zinchenko will be managed by legendary manager Arsene Wenger and feature David James, Yevhen Levchenko, Jack Wilshire, Gilberto Silva, Mark Noble, Katie Chapman, Rachel Yankey, Wes Morgan, Gerard Pique, Martin Skrtl, Phil Dunster, Roman Kemp, Tom Grennan, amongst others.
Team Shevchenko will be managed by Chelsea Women’s coach Emma Hayes and feature a star-studded lineup including Michael Essien, Chelcee Grimes, Ricardo Carvalho, Jermain Defoe, Mykhailo Mudryk, Danny Drinkwater, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Joe Cole, Russel Howard, James Arthur, Katie Chapman, and more.
“Stamford Bridge will once again become a place for unity, with both sporting and non-sporting audiences coming together in support of Ukraine. It is a great cause and I am very happy to be a part of it. I am also delighted to have such an influential and significant brand as SBC by our side in this process. I hope our joint donation will help the Chernihiv Oblast of Ukraine to restore and rehabilitate public schools” – Shota Arveladze, Arveladze Foundation.
During the event, there will be a minute silence in honour of those affected by the war, a post-match trophy presentation and a closing light show.
Attendees will also be treated to a variety of music performances throughout the day from the likes of Melanie C, Pete Doherty, Boombox, Tom Walker, Tom Grennan, Ukrainian legend Vakarchuk and a show-stopping finale from The Pretenders.
