PGA Tour and betPARX Team Up to Access Ohio Sports Betting Market
Sports betting will be a reality in Ohio on January 1, 2023. To heighten golf betting interest in the Buckeye State, the PGA Tour announced that betPARX, a sports gambling and casino mobile app, will be the exclusive betting sponsor of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday.
The Memorial Tournament is held annually in early June at Muirfield Village, a Jack Nicklaus-designed course in Dublin, Ohio. This year’s edition took place from June 2 – June 5 and was won by 2014 FedEx Cup champion Billy Horschel. Horschel was +6660 to win the Memorial.

Sports Betting in Ohio Eager to Take Off
Popular sportsbooks such as DraftKings, BetMGM, and PointsBet applied for mobile sports betting licenses in Ohio last month. The Cleveland Browns were the first team in the state to secure a partnership deal. Bally Bet will be the team’s first official sports betting partner.
Gov. Mike DeWine signed House Bill 29 into law in December 2021. According to the guidelines set by the bill, betPARX and the Memorial Tournament applied for a Type A license. The state will reserve 25 Type A licenses for mobile gaming and professional sports, but more can be allocated.
If approved, on Jan. 1, betPARX can launch its app in Ohio.
“First and foremost, we would like to express our appreciation to the State Legislators in the House and Senate that worked for many years to develop the well thought out legislation,” said Dan Sullivan, executive director of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. “The Memorial Tournament joins Ohio’s other professional sports franchises in recognizing the time and energy put into legalizing sports gaming.”
What is betPARX?
As part of the agreement, betPARX will become an official betting partner of the Tour, which gives the Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment-owned app rights to Tour branding, video highlights, and other media on its platform.
The betPARX app was launched in March 2022 in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and can be downloaded on IOS and Android devices. The app’s mission is to deliver a “faster, simpler, and easier casino and sportsbook right in your pocket.” A retail sports betting location is featured at Parx Casino in Bensalem, P.A.
Currently, the betPARX app has slot games such as Divine Fortune and Cleopatra, and a variety of table games with BlackJack, Roulette, and live dealers games. The sports betting side allows players to make live wagers and invites new customers to take advantage of risk free promotions.
Matthew Cullen, senior vice president of IGaming and sports at betPARX, said in a press release:
“betPARX will have the most comprehensive live golf betting capabilities in the market through our partnership with the PGA TOUR. We see golf as critical to our business at a time in which there is a resurgence in participation and viewership.”
New signups will be eligible to receive a $20 casino bonus or $20 sports bet bonus. In addition, new signups will receive a 100 percent deposit match up to $750 and 500 free casino spins.
