Mystics vs Wings WNBA Betting Predictions and Preview
The Washington Mystics will travel to the College Park Center and take on the Dallas Wings this Friday. Join us as we take a detailed look into Mystics vs Wings betting options!
HISTORY: The Wings and Mystics have split the last four games, with Dallas winning the last two.
Dallas Wants Consistency
Dallas (7-8) has managed to win six of their last ten games and with their last win, they sit at third in the Western Conference. After defeating the Fever 89-64, the Wings will look to close this month out strong here against Washington.
Arike Ogunbowale has been very impressive through two months of action. The reigning WNBA scoring champion is averaging 19.6 points per game to go along with 3.3 rpg, and 3.6 apg. Ogunbowale’s all-around ability and her nose for the basket will keep Dallas in games this season, as we saw in the late win over a talented Seattle team.
Her college teammate, Marina Mabrey, is posting career numbers. The third-year guard is averaging 15.3 ppg and 4.9 rebounds per game. Kayla Thornton has been having an impressive season this year, averaging a career-best 8.9 ppg and 5.9 rpg.
The return of former Oregon forward Satou Sabally to the lineup has brought size and skill to the frontcourt, and she’s scoring 13.3 ppg, while grabbing 5.9 rpg. Dallas has also appreciated the return of fifth-year guard Allisha Gray, who scores 10.1 ppg.
Mystics Looking for Road Win
Washington (7-7) has adjusted to life without standout Elena Delle-Donne, as the newly acquired Tina Charles has come in and taken on the alpha role successfully. Washington just upset the defending WNBA champion Seattle Storm at home before falling to the Los Angeles Sparks earlier this week.
The Mystics have won five of their last seven games, and they nearly defeated the Las Vegas Aces at the beginning of the month. Washington is starting to find their form early, in what seems to be a wide-open Eastern Conference.
With the former 2x WNBA MVP on the shelf, Charles has come in and averaged career highs in her eleventh season. She’s scoring a league-leading 25.3 ppg, and grabbing 9.6 rpg. Myisha Hines-Allen joins her up front, and she’s taken off since the championship campaign.
The fourth-year forward is averaging 14.1 ppg, 7.1 rpg and she scored 32 in the near-win over the Las Vegas Aces. Theresa Plaisance’s inclusion into the starting lineup gives the Mystics more size, and she had a double-double in the win over Indiana.
Ariel Atkins and Natasha Cloud start in the Mystics backcourt. Atkins is enjoying her best season yet, averaging a career-best 19.1 ppg, and she scored a career-high 29 points against the Aces. Cloud is fourth in the league in assists (5.7), and nearly had a triple-double (10/9/11) in the win over Atlanta.
Players to Watch
Tina Charles
Tina Charles has been amazing through two months, and she looks to get the Mystics back atop the Eastern Conference. Charles’ is in the midst of a historical season, and this team will go as far as she takes them.
Arike Ogunbowale
Her performance against Seattle tells you all you need to know about the former scoring champion. Dallas remains one of the most potent offenses in the league due to the fear Ogunbowale puts in opposing defenses.
Mystics vs Wings Prediction & Pick
This should be a really good battle on both sides. Two of the more competitive teams in the league, each led by a talented scorer with a solid team around them. It’d be really hard to bet against Tina Charles and the run she’s on right now.
The former MVP has posted straight double-doubles with 25 points or more, and Dallas may not have an answer for that. The Mystics might be worth the mid-day chance as underdogs. Let’s ride Washington’s momentum today, take the Mystics.
