Indiana Fever vs. Las Vegas Aces – WNBA 2021 Betting Preview
Indiana Fever vs. Las Vegas Aces Betting Preview: The Las Vegas Aces will host the Indiana Fever for a pair of matchups this weekend. The Aces took both games last year, and another season sweep could be in the works at Michelob Ultra Arena this weekend.
Indiana Needs Answers
Indiana has gotten off to a rough, slow start this season. The Fever opened the year with a pair of losses to Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty, then tough losses to the Connecticut Sun and the Atlanta Dream followed. Indiana would get their first win when they defeated an Elena Della-Donne-less Washington Mystics team in the first of a back-to-back, but Tina Charles would get revenge in the second matchup and hand Indiana their fourth loss.
The Fever are led by the young inside-outside duo of Kelsey Mitchell and Teaira McCowan. Mitchell, a fourth-year guard, leads the team in scoring at 15.7 points per game, and she scored 18 in the victory over Washington. McCowan, a third-year center, averages 10.3 ppg, and she’s recorded three double-doubles so far this season. She will have her hands full with Liz Cambage this weekend.
Former LV Ace Danielle Robinson runs the offense, and she averages 102. ppg, and leads the Fever in assists (3.8). The Fever should look to get rookie Kysre Gondrezick going, as it appears they may be embarking on another difficult season.
Aces Continue to Shine
Las Vegas enters this weekend as favorites, and after capturing their first Western Conference title last season, they are looking to become a powerhouse in the WNBA. Despite a series of negative comments targeted at All-Star center Liz Cambage over the week, look for them to start finding peak form, as their schedule gets favorable next month.
Despite being swept in the WNBA Finals, the Las Vegas Aces remain a huge threat with the trio of A’ja Wilson, Liz Cambage, and Jackie Young back in play. New addition Chelsey Gray has slid into the backcourt nicely, and former Wooden Award winner Kelsey Plum will be back in the lineup within a few weeks, as she still recovers from last year’s Achilles injury.
Wilson is the defending WNBA MVP, and she’s picked up where she left off, leading the team in scoring at 17.8 points per game. Third-year guard Jackie Young appears to have taken a leap, she’s averaging 16.2 ppg, and the former Notre Dame guard is coming off a career-high 27 points in the road win over Phoenix. Former WNBA scoring champ Liz Cambage continues to patrol the paint, and she’s scoring 13.1 ppg, grabbing 7.6 rpg, and blocking three shots per game.
Indiana Fever vs. Las Vegas Aces Prediction & Pick
Indiana may keep things close early, but look for Las Vegas to run away with this one. The Aces come in shorthanded, and they will still have too much firepower for the Fever. Indiana’s limitations offensively will be put to the test by a smothering LV defense that ranks in the top four across all major categories.
Las Vegas should win this one handily and cover the spread, bet on the Aces confidently in both contests this weekend.
