Purdue vs Wisconsin Prediction & College Football Odds for Week 8

  • Purdue’s confidence will be put to the test as they ended their curse of holding the longest current AP poll drought for a Power 5 school as they were last ranked in 2007
  • Wisconsin held the run-happy Army offense to 266 total yards but surrendered 179 rushing yards
  • Wisconsin’s defense only allowed 14 points in the last two games combined

After stunning the Iowa Hawkeyes at home, the Purdue Boilermakers (4-2) await the Wisconsin Badgers. It is certainly odd seeing a number next to the school’s name but it was well deserved as David Bell torched the defense with 240 yards on eleven receptions. On the other hand, the Wisconsin Badgers (3-3) defense struggled in the fourth quarter against Army.

Jabari Laws’ 36-yard pass to A.J. Howard secured the Black Knights a first down at the Badgers six-yard line. On the next play, Howard scored on a run to help trim Wisconsin’s lead to 20-14 in the final minute of play.

The Badgers have had a tough time forcing turnovers this season and playing in West Lafayette is never an easy place to play in as the team is 0-3 against ranked opponents while having a perfect record.

At this moment, it’s difficult to determine how good Purdue is because their only blemish is the loss to Minnesota prior to the victory over Iowa. The other loss was against ranked Notre Dame

Wisconsin vs Purdue Prediction: Spread

Despite being on the road and being unranked, the Badgers head into West Lafayette as the three-point favorites. Wisconsin is currently 2-4 against the spread this season, while Purdue is 3-3 against the spread this season.

In their most recent matchup two years ago, the Badgers defeated the Boilermakers 45-24 but in that season the Badgers finished the season as the eleventeenth ranked team in the nation.

The Boilermakers are allowing only 116 rushing yards per game and the Badgers are allowing just 161.5 passing yards per game. It is hard to figure out why Wisconsin is favored in this game as they head into hostile territory. Try to get this line before it goes to +2.5

Purdue vs Wisconsin Prediction: MoneyLine

Both teams have a lot of players on the injured list, which may be a factor going into Saturday. However, the spirits are high as the Boilermakers took down the number two team in the nation last weekend.

On the other hand, the Badgers’ offense looks to be improving QB Graham Mertz has only thrown two touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Purdue will certainly rely on David Bell who has over 120 receiving yards in four of his last five games this season. After battling Purdue, the Badgers will face Iowa.

These two games are very important as this may determine their path to the Big Ten Championship Game.

Purdue vs Wisconsin Prediction: Total

The total for this game is set very low, but for a good reason. Both teams may have difficulty scoring as the Badgers defense has been reliable except for the fourth against Army in the fourth, but the offense may struggle as well. Purdue limited Iowa to just seven.

A couple of betting trends to keep in mind is Wisconsin is a reliable team to bet the under as eight of their last eleven games have hit the under. Purdue is currently 6-0 in regards to hitting the under.
