Why The Panthers Will Win The Stanley Cup Final
The Florida Panthers have been on a fairytale run this postseason. The Panthers have slayed three goliaths on their way to the Stanley Cup Final, taking down a record-setting Boston Bruins team, a ridiculously stacked Toronto Maple Leafs team, and playoff regulars in the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Panthers now face off against the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final.
Sergei Bobrovsky and Matthew Tkachuk
This postseason the Panthers have benefited from increased play from their stars, such as Sergei Bobrovsky and Matthew Tkachuk.
Bobrovsky has a record of 10-2-0 in 14 games played this postseason with a goals-against average of 2.21. Bobrovsky also rocks an incredible .935 save percentage.
On the offensive side of things, Matthew Tkachuk has been nothing short of sensational. The star winger has 9 goals, 12 assists, and a plus-minus of +10 over 16 games in the 2023 postseason.
Florida’s Long Break
The Stanley Cup Finals will begin on Saturday, June 3rd. This means that the Florida Panthers will have 10 days between sweeping Carolina in Game 4 and Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Many speculate that such a long break for the Panthers may interfere with the momentum and “mojo” the team has been playing with, but I am here to show you why just the opposite is true,
Five different times this season, Florida has had an extended break (defined as five or more days off). In the return games, the Panthers have gone 5-0 and have outscored opponents 29-11.
October 8-13 (5 days): 3-1 win over the New York Islanders.
Christmas Break (6 days): 7-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
All-Star Break (9 days): 7-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning
March 11-16 (5 days): 9-5 win over the Montreal Canadiens.
Playoffs Round 2 – Round 3 (6 days): 3-2 (4 OT) win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
Betting Angle
The Panthers will be well rested and should have a jump on the Golden Knights in game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals. The Panthers are +110 to win Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final and are +105 to win the Stanley Cup.
The Panthers are likely to be the betting underdogs in every game in this series. I think it is especially interesting that, with that being said, the Panthers are only +105 to raise the Cup.
With such expected individual game odds, I certainly think the books are up to something with hanging such a short series line against an 8th-seed team that just barely made the playoffs in the Panthers.
Pick
I recommend the Florida Panthers (+105) to win the Stanley Cup.
