The NFL’s Standout Teams
Now that Super Bowl LVIII has wrapped up, it’s time to reflect on the previous season, while also looking ahead to the future. The Kansas City Chiefs just won their third Super Bowl in five seasons, and they will now be going for a three-peat during the 2024-25 season.
Instead of just focusing on individual teams each season, it’s better to identify the top franchises in the league. There is one clear franchise at the top, but some other organizations have been solid as well.
Kansas City Chiefs
Ever since Patrick Mahomes took over the starting quarterback job in Kansas City, this team has been among the favorites in the betting to win the Super Bowl contender every single year. Kansas City has been in the AFC Championship six straight seasons, and have won three Super Bowl titles during that stretch of time.
Most of the top teams have to deal with salary cap issues at some point, but Kansas City has been able to win games while still paying their top players. Head coach Andy Reid has proven to be a weapon for this franchise as well as he is one of the best coaches in league history.
The Chiefs are now the standard when it comes to the NFL, and they are a team that everyone else is aspiring to be. Moving forward, the Chiefs are going to continue to be a handful for opposing teams in the Western Conference.
San Francisco 49ers
While the Kansas City Chiefs have been the class of the AFC, it has been the San Francisco 49ers that have ruled the NFC over the past decade. San Francisco has not been able to get the job done on the biggest stage, but they continue to find a way to get there.
There have been some other teams from the NFC West Division that have had some periods of success, but the 49ers continue to stand out every year. Heading into 2024-25, the San Francisco 49ers are going to be one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl yet again.
This team is loaded with talent and the 49ers continue to be a franchise that free agents are choosing to spend a part of their career.
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are another team that continues to struggle when it comes time for the postseason, but they always seem to be successful in the regular season. Dallas has been dominant in the NFC East Division many times over the past decade, but at some point they will have to get back to the Super Bowl.
One reason that the Cowboys continue to be a playoff contender is that they have a great home environment that is attractive to other players. Dak Prescott gives this team a chance to win every time that they take the field, and that was the case with Tony Romo as well.
Green Bay Packers
Fans of the Green Bay Packers have been extremely lucky as this organization just continues to identify some great quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers controlled the NFC North Division for more than a decade, and now it looks as if Jordan Love is going to be doing the same thing.
Green Bay is another organization that hasn’t been able to win the big game of late, but they are always in the mix every single year. The Packers now have some other teams to deal with in the NFC North Division, but they are going to be good enough to contend moving forward.
Buffalo Bills
The AFC East was controlled by the New England Patriots when Tom Brady was at the quarterback position, but things have now shifted in a big way. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are now the class of this division, and that is going to be the case moving forward as well.
There seems to be a trend with some of these top organizations over the past decade, and that has been the case with the Bills as well. Buffalo just can’t seem to get past Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, but they will at least have another shot next season.
