Best NFL Prop Bets for Christmas Day Football

Best NFL Prop Bets for Christmas Day Football

This year, the NFL will showcase a Christmas Day game which will add to the massive holiday sports slate. The NBA usually is the sole league competing on Christmas Day unless the holiday falls on a Sunday. However, Roger Goodell delivered and gave fans Christmas Day football.

On Friday, the Minnesota Vikings will travel to New Orleans for a 4:30 PM ET kickoff against the Saints. I don’t think there’s a better day of the year than Christmas to win a few prop bets. Think of these as your Christmas morning stocking stuffers!

Here are my best NFL prop bets for Christmas Day football.

Best NFL Prop Bets – Kirk Cousins – Over 252.5 Passing Yards

Kirk Cousins is a great competitor and will do anything for his team in order to win. Cousins has thrown for 3,569 yards in 2020 which puts him at 13th in the league. Cousins has thrown for over 252 yards eight times this season. Cousins has had trouble protecting the football, but this doesn’t really matter for this statistic. This is because Cousins interceptions don’t stop him from taking shots down the field.

Minnesota has nothing to lose against the Saints. The Saints need to win this game in order to attain the best playoff seeding possible. A quarterback with no pressure is a recipe for success. Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson have the ability to torment the Saints’ secondary. The past two games have been ugly for the Saints on defense and I think this streak will move to three on Christmas.

Best NFL Prop BetsAnytime TD Scorer – Adam Thielen

Adam Thielen is having one of the best years of his career in 2020. Unfortunately, this isn’t helping the Vikings in the win/loss column. Thielen has caught 13 touchdowns in 2020 which is the highest number in his seven professional seasons. This puts him as the third ranked receiver in all of football. He isn’t the team’s leading receiver when it comes to yardage, but he is Cousins’ favorite target in the red zone. Thielen has found the endzone in nine of the team’s fourteen contests.
First Quarter Spread – Minnesota Vikings (-2)

New Orleans will win this game, but I think it turns into a shootout right from the opening kick. Minnesota will be able to score some points against the New Orleans defense. I think Cousins has a big night if he is able to protect the football. Statistically, the Vikings are a better first quarter team than New Orleans. Minnesota starts strong and falls apart as time ticks off the clock.

New Orleans has tended to start slow, but the team has been able to win games in the second half. The Vikings are averaging 5.6 first quarter points per game. The Saints are averaging 4.4. I think the Vikings come out on fire and the Saints won’t be ready for the onslaught. Cousins will throw a TD and the defense will hold the Saints to three points in the first quarter.

Minnesota -2…LOCK IT UP!

Best NFL Prop BetsAnytime TD Scorer – Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara is dangerous with the football in his hands. At 5’10” 215 pounds, the 25-year-old is extremely tough to take down. The Saints use Kamara in the run game and as a receiving target out of the backfield. Kamara has 15 total touchdowns this season which gives him an average of over one per game.

Drew Brees loves to find Kamara out of the backfield. He is the Saints leading receiver with 739 yards and is also a goal line rushing threat. If the Saints are going to win, Kamara is going to find the end zone. His ability to score in all facets of the offense is why I’m taking Kamara as the final prop in my Christmas stocking.

Enjoy the NFL holiday action and have a Merry Christmas on Friday!
