Best Bets for NFL Week 8
Cincinnati Bengals (-10.5) vs New York Jets
How exactly should we expect the Jets to score points with their starting quarterback Zach Wilson out multiple weeks with a PCL injury in his knee? The Jets are down to rookie backup quarterback Mike Smith and their newest addition from the Philadelphia Eagles and former Jets quarterback Joe Flacco. New York is scoring 13.3 points in their last five games and their defense has been getting exposed.
The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the best teams in the NFL and the public is moving this line a little high but rookie wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase has been playing well and clicking with Joe Burrow in this offense. Burrow is currently sixth in passing yards and tied for fourth in passing touchdowns. 10.5 points is not scaring me off of this game at all.
New York Giants (+10) vs Kansas City Chiefs
Word of advice, do NOT bet on the Kansas City Chiefs to cover as they are 2-5 ATS this season. Patrick Mahomes has been struggling as in his last five games, he has thrown eight interceptions so this Chiefs offense is not the same. Their defense has been putrid as they are giving up 29 points per game.
The Giants have been scoring the football well enough as they are scoring 20.8 points in their previous four games, so that means they can do well on the road here. Running back Saquon Barkley, wide receiver Kenny Golladay, wide receiver Kadarius Toney, wide receiver Sterling Shepard, and tight end Evan Engram are all listed as questionable. Give me the 10 points and go with the Giants here.
Carolina Panthers vs Atlanta Falcons (-3)
This could be a huge swing game in the NFC South as the Panthers are 0-4 since Christian McCaffrey was injured. In those four games, Same Darnold has thrown four touchdowns to seven interceptions.
The Falcons are beginning to turn the corner after winning against the Jets and Dolphins, averaging 28.5 points in those games. Kyle Pitts is on pace to be the best rookie tight end in NFL history and running back Cordarelle Patterson has been doing extremely well as of late.
Matt Ryan has thrown for multiple touchdown passes in each of the last five games. The Carolina Panthers are 1-6 against the spread in the last seven games against the Atlanta Falcons so give me the Falcons laying just three points.
