Middle Tennessee vs Virginia Tech Prediction & College Football Odds For Week 2

Middle Tennessee vs Virginia Tech Prediction & College Football Odds For Week 2

  • Virginia Tech will cover the spread
  • Virginia Tech will take the W
  • The game will stay under 54.5 points

Middle Tennessee is traveling to Blacksburg, Virginia to take on Virginia Tech in a week two college football matchup. Middle Tennessee is coming off of a 50-15 victory against Monmouth. Virginia Tech took down number 10 North Carolina in a 17-10 game that came down to the wire.

This game is not projected to be a close matchup by any means. If everything goes to plan, Virginia Tech should be able to take down their visiting opponent rather easily and continue their quest for an ACC title. However, as we all know things do not always go to plan, and even if they do, it is difficult to try to determine how much the Hokies would win by.

Betting Odds & Lines for This Game

  • Spread: Middle Tennessee +20 (-110), Virginia Tech -20 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Middle Tennessee (+750), Virginia Tech (-1176)
  • Total: 54.5 (-110)

Middle Tennessee vs Virginia Tech Prediction: Spread

Virginia Tech comes into the game as 20 point favorites. Money-wise, you will make the same amount betting on Virginia Tech to cover as you would betting on Middle Tennessee to cover. Bettors should have full faith in the Virginia Tech defense to hold Middle Tennessee’s offense to cover the spread. The pressure will be on their offense to be able to score enough to cover.

Against North Carolina, they ran the ball a lot to kill the clock. While this strategy was probably enforced as a way to keep the ball out of Sam Howell and North Carolina’s hands it will be interesting to see if they do the same against Middle Tennessee.

  • Free Prediction: Virginia Tech -20

Middle Tennessee vs Virginia Tech Prediction: MoneyLine

The money line is a fairly obvious choice. Virginia Tech just took down the 10th best team in the country. While Middle Tennessee dominated their week one opponent, they played Monmouth. Which is an FCS team. While it was still an impressive win just because of the margin of victory Middle Tennessee had there is a huge difference between playing Virginia Tech and playing Monmouth.

However, because of how bad the profit would be for betting on Virginia Tech’s money line, I would hold off on the money line for this matchup. However, if betting on the money line is necessary Virginia Tech is as close to a lock as you can get.

  • Free Prediction: Virginia Tech

Middle Tennessee vs Virginia Tech Prediction: Total

The over-under is set at 54.5 points. Both the over and under have odds of -110. This means that each team would have to score 27.5 for the over to hit and each team would have to score up to 27 points each for the under to hit. Virginia Tech will likely be doing the bulk of the scoring. They are likely to air the ball out more and get their quarterback in a rhythm before they play another conference game.

However, Middle Tennesee likely will not be scoring much if at all this game. Because of this and how well Virginia Tech’s defense played in week one, I would pick the under.

  • Free Prediction: Under 54.5 points

Middle Tennessee vs Virginia Tech Prediction: Props

Props I would keep an eye on would be Virginia Tech as first-half favorites by 11 points. The odds on this are -115. However, the Hokies are likely going to try to get as big of a lead as quickly as they can so their backups can play in the second half. For this same reasoning, I would also take the over for first half points which are set at 28 points. The odds on the over are -121.

  • Free Prediction: Virginia Tech first half -11 (-115), and first half over 28 points (-121)
