Surging Trail Blazers Square Off Against Struggling Lakers
The Portland Trail Blazers will be hosting the Lakers, and the results are extremely important. The Western Conference has been tight, and the Lakers and Trail Blazers are right in the thick of it.
Both teams come into tonight with a 37-29 record. The dreaded play-in is looming as each time prepares for tonight’s game. Each team will bring all they got in hopes of securing the 6-seed or higher.
The home of the Trail-Blazers will be welcoming back fans for the first time since the pandemic. The Moda Center will be at about 10% capacity and could create a different atmosphere for this team.
The Lakers are still searching to find a groove right before the playoffs. The Trail Blazers are looking to keep momentum during the rest of the regular season.
Portland Staying Hot
The Portland Trail Blazers are coming into tonight hot with a 36 point blowout victory against the Cavaliers. Damian Lillard scored 32 points and nine assists, shooting 10-17 from the field. CJ McCollum went 3-14 shooting, with just 10 points.
Jusuf Nurkic and Enes Kanter split time, and both recorded double-doubles. Carmelo Anthony added in 16 points off the bench. This Cavaliers team isn’t the same without Lebron, and the Blazers are looking forward to seeing a Lebron-less Lakers as well.
The Blazers have won 5 of their past 6 and are looking for a playoff push into the West. Damian Lillard continues to post terrific numbers. CJ McCollum is still working his way through injury but is still averaging 22.8 points on the year.
Rip City is looking to make a playoff push this season as Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum continue to thrive in their prime. With rumors of head-coach Terry Stotts on the hot-seat without this playoff push, Portland needs a big win tonight.
Lakers Looking Lost
The Los Angeles Lakers will be heading to Portland directly after their loss to the Clippers last night. The Lakeshow will be without mega superstar Lebron James and potentially without Anthony Davis.
Davis suffered a back spasm last night but reported postgame that he is probable for tonight’s crucial match-up. The Lakers are going to need all the help they can get after a blowout loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Last night, Kyle Kuzma scored 25 points on 9-19 shooting, but that wasn’t enough to spark a close game. The other five starters all finished with single-digit scoring and were lackluster from the very beginning.
The Lakers have been in desperate need of offense as Davis, Lebron, and Schroder have been in and out of the lineup for the past month. Kyle Kuzma and Andre Drummond will need to step up and deliver for the depleted Lakers.
Pick and Prediction
The Trail Blazers are 8.5 point favorites and for a good reason. The Lakers are 3-7 in their last ten and are in desperate need of a big win. The Trail Blazers are just 5-5 in their last ten but have been winning recently.
The Trail Blazers seem to be rolling these past two weeks and are still trying to avoid the play-in. I’m taking the over and believe that Damian Lillard will have a huge night.
You can watch this crucial match-up on ESPN at 10:00 P.M. Eastern.
Pick: Trail Blazers -8.5
