Giants vs. Dodgers Prediction
Two of the hottest teams in baseball clash as the Los Angeles Dodgers travel To San Francisco. The Giants have won 5 games straight, and the Dodgers have won 3 in a row. Bocth teams have been dominating opponents and are sitting in 1st and 3rd in the NL West. The Dodgers hold a record of 25-18, and the Giants sit atop the standings with a 28-16 record. Find out what my Giants vs. Dodgers prediction is down below.
The NL West is by far the most stacked division in the MLB, with these top teams looking very scary early on. The Giants have been a surprise to most baseball fans and have continued their consistent style of play. They are the hottest team in baseball, winning 5 straight games, with 4 of them being against the Cincinnati Reds.
The Dodgers are also surging in the standings. It looked like another fantastic start for the reigning champions, and then they hit a rough patch during the middle of the season. They have found their stride once again with an 8-2 record in their last 10.
Los Angeles is throwing out their reigning Cy Young winner, Trevor Bauer, out onto the mound. He will face off against Alex Wood, a former Dodger, who has been brilliant for the Giants so far. This matchup and series will be must-see TV and will certainly be exciting to watch two of the best teams in the league go at it.
Giants Have Been Hitting Dingers To Win Games
The Giants are 25th in the MLB for both hits and average. You would look at that stat and think this team is one of the bottom teams in the league. Wrong! And it’s because they are hitting the long ball extremely well. San Francisco is tied for 2nd in the MLB with 58 home runs, which has helped them win many games.
The team of the 2010s is coming off of a 4 game sweep to the Reds last week. The offense had a run fiesta on Thursday’s game, scoring 19 runs. Evan Longoria, Steven Duggar, and Darin Ruf were all able to launch a long ball. But Brandon Crawford was the MVP of the last game, driving in 6 runs off of 2 singles and a bomb.
Alex Wood will be throwing in Friday night’s game, and he has been nothing short of incredible. He holds 5 wins and 0 losses for the G-men and has been a consistent thrower all year. He will have to attempt to continue his excellence against this star-studded lineup of the Dodgers.
The Dodgers are Back to Being Winners After Rough Patch
The Los Angeles Dodgers have found their groove once again, winning 4 straight games and 8 of their last 10. The Dodgers pitching staff has been incredible all year and will try to stop this red-hot Giants offense.
The Dodgers lineup is top 8 in the majors in average, runs, and hits, but unlike the Giants, they are 17th for home runs. Mookie Betts and Max have been solid, batting first and second. Corey Seager has also been great, along with Cody Bellinger, in the games they’ve played. The Los Angeles stars still want to be better, but for now, they are hitting the ball very well.
Now the pitching for the Dodgers is just unreal. Trevor Bauer and Clayton Kershaw have been listed as early favorites for the Cy Young award, and the other guys have done their part as well. Bauer boasts a 4-2 record with a 2.20 ERA which is good for 10th in all of baseball.
Wood and Bauer will go at each other all night and attempt to stop the other team’s win streak. Look for Mookie Betts and Justin Turner to tee off against the lefty Alex Wood. Brandon Crawford should be able to stay hot against the right-handed Bauer. Nonetheless, this will be an exceptional game and series to watch over the weekend.
Prediction: Dodgers 5-4
