Who Will Be On the 2023 US Ryder Cup Team?

After the United States wrapped up a dominant performance at Whistling Straits Sunday, the players were asked about whether they have unfinished business in Europe. The United States have not won in Europe since 1993, and Jordan Spieth emphasized the importance of the next Ryder Cup.

“I think so. I think this is unfinished business. It’s one thing to win here, and it is a lot easier to do so. It’s harder to win over there, but if we play the way we did this week, the score will look a lot similar.”

So who will be on that squad in Rome?

Collin Morikawa: Morikawa will be in Rome.

Justin Thomas: JT needs to work on chugging beers, but his golf game will keep him on every Ryder Cup team for years to come.

Jordan Spieth: It could be risky to call Spieth a lock, given how awful he played in 2018 and 2019, but it’s hard to see him falling off the planet again.

Xander Schauffele: Xander will be in Rome, and he’ll be a major champion when he gets there.

Dustin Johnson: As seen in the press conference, when he was a little more liquored up than normal, DJ is the clear leader of this team. He’ll be in Rome.

Patrick Cantlay: Cantlay established himself as one of the best players in the world this year.

Tony Finau: Even though he only has two PGA Tour wins, it’s hard to picture a Ryder Cup team without Finau.

Most Likely on the Team

Brooks Koepka: Most would say Brooks is a lock, but concerns about his knee lead one to believe there is a chance Brooks misses the next Ryder Cup.

Scottie Scheffler: After a great showing in Wisconsin, Scheffler showed why he would be in consideration for every Ryder Cup moving forward. Yet, he was the last man on the team, and the depth of talent in the United States might leave him on the outside looking in.

Webb Simpson: Webb had played on Ryder Cup teams before but was left off this year. He is a perfect course fit in Rome and will most likely be on the squad.

On the Bubble

Daniel Berger: Daniel Berger on the bubble reveals the talent difference between the United States and Europe. He’d be a star on the European team but might not make the team next time around for the US.

Harris English: A very talented player that may lay victim to the overwhelming depth of the United States.

Bryson Dechambeau: Bryson should be in his own category. Although he is one of the best players in the world, Bryson might quit the PGA Tour and pursue a career in long drive competitions. He might break down physically from this unbelievable transformation. He might get bored of golf and become a chemist. Bryson is so unpredictable that no one can say whether he will be there in 2023.

Newcomers

Will Zalatoris: The runner-up in the 2021 Masters is developing into one of the best players in the world. Another weapon for the already loaded US Ryder Cup team.

Sam Burns: Steve Stricker chose between Sam Burns and Scottie Scheffler (who ironically are best friends) for the last Ryder Cup spot this year. He should get his chance next time around.

Max Homa: Known Twitter troll Max Homa is actually a great player. There is a world where Max Homa is on the team in Rome.
