New Harrah’s Casino in Nebraska to Open Late 2022
Columbus, Nebraska: Harrah’s, which is owned by Caesars Entertainment, is one of the best brands in casino gaming. Caesars bought it in 2005, and this acquisition took the properties to the next level. Caesars is continuing to grow the Harrah’s brand, and the company made a massive announcement on July 5 for its growth in Nebraska.
A new Harrah’s casino and racetrack will be opening in late 2022 in Columbus, Nebraska. The property is already being constructed, but the Caesars waited to announce the groundbreaking formally. When the new property opens, it will be one of the best gaming facilities in the state.
Details of the New Harrah’s Casino
Columbus will have easy access to an advanced gaming facility with the new Harrah’s casino opening in 2022. The venue will have a horse racing track, a 40,000 square foot casino featuring 400 slot machines, and 20 tables games.
Additionally, there will be a full sportsbook with a restaurant, bar, comfortable seating, and numerous televisions. The property will be located by Highway 81 in Columbus, and it will include a shopping mall for people to enjoy.
The entire facility will cost Caesars $75 million to build, but it will yield a significant return in the future.
The Importance of the Racetrack in Nebraska
Joe Morris, the SVP of racing at Caesars Entertainment, is excited to open doors for the racetrack. He thinks it will be very popular throughout the state and an attraction worth traveling to for visitors.
“Beyond the onset of casino gaming in Nebraska, we are thrilled with the opportunity to transform horse racing in Columbus. The opportunity to build a new, first-class track at our property illustrates our commitment to the racing industry and our intent to carry on the area’s storied racing tradition.”
Tom Reeg, the CEO of Caesars Entertainment, was one of the primary decision makers for the new facility in Nebraska. After the announcement, he also discussed the importance of the racetrack.
Nebraska recently legalized casino gaming at racetracks, which made Caesars capitalize on the opportunity.
He said, “When Nebraska voters opened up gaming at racetracks, we knew that our experience in the casino industry combined with our commitment to horse racing made Harrah’s a perfect fit. We look forward to creating an all-new Harrah’s experience in Columbus and connecting it to our Caesars Rewards network across the country.”
Caesars will continue to market the property until it opens in 2022. The national Caesars Rewards program will apply to the property, and this should attract many visitors who frequent properties within the system.
This will be Caesars’ first casino property in Nebraska. The closest Caesars property to the state is Horseshoe Council Bluffs Casino in Iowa.
