Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights Look to Bounce Back and Tie Series Tonight
The Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights are looking to bounce back after their abysmal game 1 performances. The Seattle Kraken defeated the Avalanche 3-1 and the Winnipeg Jets Defeated the Golden Knights by a score of 5-1.
Both the Avalanche and the Golden Knights have 1 more home game before they take to the road for the next two, and winning these games would go a long way for their chances to advance. Read on for my thoughts on how both of the series will unfold over the next two weeks.
Seattle Kraken Lead Colorado Avalanche, 1-0
The Seattle Kraken stunned the Colorado Avalanche in Game 1 of the Western Conference 1st Round. Phillip Grubauer played exceptional, stopping 34 of the 35 shots faced for a .971 save percentage in the 3-1 win.
The win will stand as the Seattle Kraken’s first franchise victory in the playoffs.
The Avalanche had plenty of shots on goal and chances to score, but between Grubauer playing out of his mind and poor finishing ability, the Avalanche were only able to manage 1 goal in the first period, and were stone walled the rest of the game.
Star Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon was able to get 7 shots off on former Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer, but the goalie proved to be too good in Game 1.
The Avalanche have a prime opportunity tonight to even the series at 1 game a piece and bettors should expect the team to pull through – even if it takes an overtime period or two.
Winnipeg Jets Lead Vegas Golden Knights, 1-0
The Winnipeg Jets defeated the Golden Knights in game 1 of the western conference 1st round by a score of 5-1.
In the resounding win, star goalie Connor Hellebuyck stopped 16 of 17 shots faced for a .941 save percentage. Hellebuyck is the main reason why the Jets were propelled to many of the team’s 46 regular season wins, and is proving to be a reason the team is putting together winning efforts in the playoffs as well.
The two teams will face off again tonight at 10pm EDT and the Golden Knights have to be feeling like this is a must-win game.
