Manchester City is on The Verge Of Greatness as They Beat Real Madrid to Secure a Champions League Final Spot
The Etihad Stadium was all jubilation as Manchester City showed another masterpiece against the defending champions, Real Madrid, in their second leg of the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester City took advantage of their home ground and the supporting fans to edge past Real Madrid, who had nothing to show for the night.
In the first leg, goals from De Bruyne and Vinicius Junior resulted in a draw, and many expected Madrid to pull a surprise and win at the Etihad.
Manchester City’s resilience and classy output ensured the home team went through to the finals marking a special moment for them for a second time in the Champions League.
Pep Guadiola’s side has also had a fantastic performance in the Premier League, where they are at the top of the table. A win against Chelsea will see them lift the Premier League trophy in front of their fans.
Bernardo Silva Early Goals Set The Pace for Manchester City
It was another fantastic moment for the Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva who registered two goals for the Blues.
His goals sparked wild scenes at the Etihad as players, fans, and the coach celebrated the first goal when Silva sent Curtois on the wrong side with his powerful, far post shot after receiving an assist from De Bruyne.
Moments later, Silver headed another goal from a Courtois save, making it 2-0 in the first half. At this point, Manchester City dominated and took control of Real Madrid’s half.
Another great header from Akanji ensured the City lead was secured as he finished an assist from De Bruyne’s free kick.
Erling Haaland’s efforts to get past Courtois were futile, as Courtois denied his first header. He had another clear chance with a second far post header which Curtois also flipped out.
Haalands moment of glory was knocking when he got a classy assist and fired a shot that Courtois saved with his leg sending it to the bar for a corner.
This was his last greatest chance before he was substituted for Alvarez, who came in and scored the 4th goal sealing City’s victory against Madrid.
Disastrous Performance From Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti’s side was in poor form, creating fewer chances through the 90 minutes. In the first half, Madrid had one shot on target, with most of the position in Man City’s favor. It was Courtois’s superb saves that kept them in the game.
However, a few defense blunders led to clear goals from Bernardo Silva, leaving them trailing 3-1 in aggregate. Lack of effort from Real Madrid players saw them concede two more goals hence losing on an aggregate of 5-1.
This was one of Madrid’s disastrous performances of the season and in the Champions League.
Efforts by Benzema and Vinicius Junior to ensure a goal for Madrid bore no fruits, as Kyle Walker’s solid defense denied them chances.
Manchester City To Meet Inter Milan In the Finals
After a superb second-leg performance from Inter Milan, they secured yet another win against Ac Milan to guarantee them a palace in the UEFA Champions League Final. The game’s outcome was determining who the winner would play from Manchester City and Real Madrid outcomes.
As it is, Manchester City thrashing Real Madrid 4-0 was a ticket to the finals, where they’ll meet Inter Milan. After several unsuccessful trials a few years ago, Manchester City is the favorite to win the cup.
