Arsenal Hands Ramsdale New Contract As They Proactively Assess Transfer Window for 2023/24 Season
Arsenal FC, under Mikel Arteta, has had a fantastic season. The student of Pep Guardiola is set to complete the season in style despite a few blunders that cost the Gunners their first major title since 2004.
The 2022-23 season was a year that Arsenal was expected to win the English Premier League and return the former joy to the fans who have patiently waited for almost 20 years.
Mikel Arteta has had the longest winning streak with a longer time on the top of the table, giving fans the hope to win the EPL.
The momentum gained by the team saw them beat almost all the big teams. They thrashed Liverpool 3-2 at home and drew away. They beat Chelsea 1-0 away and 3-1 at home.
Arsenal players like Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaad were exceptional, while Ramsdale made excellent saves to ensure the Arsenal title fight remained active.
However, a draw at Liverpool and a Win for Everton kickstarted Arsenal’s problems. Losing Gabriel Jesus to an injury also added to their striker woes. Partey also got an injury leading to a loose defense. Arsenal had to sign Georginho from their rivals Chelsea to come in for Partey.
Other draws and a loss at Briton crushed Gunner’s hope of lifting the title and gave Manchester City an upper hand. If the Citizens beat Chelsea in the coming game, they will lift the EPL trophy in front of their fans.
Ramsadale’s Classy Performance Just Gave Him A New Contract
After his exemplary performance from the start of the 2022/23 season, Arsenal has handed Ramsdale a new long-term contract. The skipper is set to extend his stay at the Emirates until 2026. He also has the option to extend the contract by 12 months, depending on his performance.
After leaving Sheffield United, Ramsdale penned down a contract with the Gunners in 2021. Currently, the goalkeeper has established himself as one of the high-value goalkeepers in the Premier League.
Ramsdale was a key man during the 2-2 draw with Liverpool, denying Mohammed Salah key goals with his acrobatic moves.
Garry Neville couldn’t believe it and only remarked!
“This is some save” “The deflection, it makes it even more difficult for him. Who knows, that might win Arsenal the title; you never know.”
The 25-year-old’s last two seasons have been fantastic, and Mikel Arteta is looking for a bright future with his skipper as they prepare for the Champions League and new Premier Lague seasons in 2023/24.
Besides Ramsdale, another player who still impressed the Gunners was Martinelli, who was also given a new contract. His current deal was set to expire in 2024, but he has been given two more years until 2027 with an option to extend by a year.
Other Players Rumored to Join Arsenal in the 2023/24 Transfer Window
Arsenal are set to strengthen their existing squad by acquiring new players.
They will likely continue hunting for Britons Man Caicedo, who almost joined them in the previous transfer window. The player is one of the top playmakers admired by Arteta, and he is likely to push for a transfer and sign him.
Joe Cancelo from Man City and Declan Rice are rumored to join the Gunners as their new transfer prospects. The two players have had an incredible run with significant impacts on their teams. Both have Premier League experience and will likely fit in instantly if they sign for Arsenal.
With more signings in place, Arsenal are looking forward to another impressive run better than what they’ve produced in the 2022-23 season.
