PointsBet and NBC Sports join forces through Chris Simms
PointsBet, the official partner for sports betting at NBC Sports, has announced a partnership with Chris Simms, a college football and NFL analyst with the broadcasting company. This partnership will allow Simms to create content for distribution on NBC Sports, as well as PointsBet.
Simms, who completed a four-year stint at the University of Texas before playing eight NFL seasons, will start creating sports betting content about the NFL this week. He will provide in-depth film breakdowns of players and teams, which will give more insight to those who want to place bets on NFL games or player props. PointsBet will also include a weekly betting segment on the “Chris Simms Unbuttoned” show.
PointsBet to Capitalize on Simms’ Presence
Simms’ betting content, which will be available to PointsBet customers of “Live Your Bet Life,” will be displayed in its interface and app.
The new NFL betting content is the latest collaboration between PointsBet & NBC Sports. PointsBet also launched integrations to the Football Night in America studio and the Peacock Sunday Night Football Final postgame shows.
According to NBC, NBC Sports EDGE is also providing more football content across Peacock, NBC Sports Digital and NBC Sports Next. NBC Sports EDGE’s shows also include “Bet the Edge – Blitzing the Board,” which features guest appearances by Jay Croucher, PointsBet Head Oddsmaker and Teddy Greenstein. The show streams on Peacock’s NBC Sports channel at 7 PM ET on Fridays and Sundays at noon ET.
The Sunday Night 7 free-to-play NFL game can be viewed on the NBC Sports Predictor app powered by PointsBet. This app allows viewers to take part in seven questions about the game that will feature a $100,000 jackpot.
Simms is a Household Name in Football
Simms offers analysis on a variety of NBC Sports platforms and programs, including Football Night in America. Simms also hosts “Pro Football Talk” alongside Mike Florio and “Peacock Sunday Night Football Final” and “Chris Simms Unbuttoned,” a digital and social-media exclusive program that covers the NFL and college game.
Johnny Aitken, PointsBet USA CEO, spoke out about the alliance in a press release. He said that PointsBet’s policy is to partner with the best talent within the industry and stated that Simms is the perfect addition.
The popular sports figure will “develop up-to-date and entertaining betting segments” that will reach beyond the broadcaster’s key demographics, thanks to his presence on multiple platforms within the NBC Sports Universe. PointsBet users today are seeking the type of information and insight that someone with his extensive experience can provide as they increase the number of in-play betting.
Will McIntosh EVP, Digital & Sports Consumer Business NBC Sports Next added, “We’re excited to have Chris’ perspective and insight across our sports betting content. This is a great fit and opportunity to further engage viewers, given Chris’ popular rankings and analysis of teams and players.”
This initiative is just the latest in a series of examples of how sports betting and sports continue to merge. It was only a few years ago that the two were separate and distant; however, with sports betting now legal in over 30 states in the US, more broadcasters are embracing the activity and including options that will focus more on the sports betting aspect of all major games.
