FanDuel and Jordan Spieth Announce Partnership
Sports betting ambassadors are beginning to become critical for success in the sports betting industry. Sportsbooks have been adamant about signing prominent athletes to draw attention to their respective platforms.
FanDuel Group was the latest sports betting operator to sign an influential athlete to promote its platform. The wagering conglomerate inked Jordan Spieth, a three-time PGA Major Champion, to a multi-year exclusive partnership.
Details of the Partnership
FanDuel, an official sports betting partner of the PGA Tour, has targeted Jordan Spieth for months to join the team. This will enhance FanDuel’s connection with the golf betting community.
The relationship will designate Spieth as the face of golf betting for FanDuel. He will be featured in multiple national commercials and represent the brand on social media. In addition to a salary, FanDuel will contribute to the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation to continue its mission to support children, junior golfers, and military families.
Spieth was quoted in the press release, and he is excited about the new partnership.
“As the world of legal sports betting grows rapidly in the U.S, I’m incredibly excited about what’s happening in the space and the potential it has to bring new fans to the sport of golf. As the PGA Tour and others in the golf world have strongly embraced legalized sports gaming, I look forward to working with FanDuel to find unique ways to engage the fast-growing fanbase.”
Signing Jordan Spieth was the Right Call
Jordan Spieth was a prime signing for FanDuel because of his success in the PGA. He has been dominant since his days on the junior tour, which has translated throughout his time in the PGA.
He was the youngest player to record a win on the PGA Tour in 82 years when he claimed the John Deere Classic in 2013 at 19 years old. At 21, he won the 2015 Masters and US Open before notching his third major win in the 2017 Open Championship.
Spieth is currently in second in the 2021 FedEx Cup rankings, and he has nine top-ten finishes on the season. He has 12 victories in his time on the tour, and he is just 28 years old.
Mike Raffensperger, the Chief Marketing Officer of FanDuel, was also quoted in the press release.
“Golf is an incredibly popular sport on the FanDuel platform, and we are always looking for new ways to engage the growing golf fanbase and community. As one of the most universally admired golfers at the top of his game, Jordan Spieth is a perfect fit for our first official golf partner and the face of golf at FanDuel.”
Spieth will join a stacked roster of ambassadors, including Pat McAfee, a former NFL punter and one of the biggest sports radio hosts in the world. Golf fans looking to bet on FanDuel can use the app in CO, IL, IN, IA, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA, and WV.
