Best NHL Series Bets
The NHL playoff picture is set, and the battle for the NHL Stanley Cup is set to begin on Monday, April 17th. Read on for the best NHL series bets.
New Jersey Devils Series ML (-120) vs. New York Rangers
The New Jersey Devils and the New York Rangers faceoff in the NHL first round of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs. In what should make for some fantastic hockey, this classic metropolitan divisional showdown should yield plenty of overtime games.
The Rangers will be reliant on star goalie Igor Shesterkin to play his best hockey of the season, as the goaltender experienced a dip in his statistics during the regular season. If Shesterkin doesn’t play to his full potential, it will swing the door of opportunity wide open for the young and talented Devils offense.
I think the New Jersey Devils to win the series at -120 is a great bet. In fact, I think bettors are getting a short number on the devils to win the series since New York now has a legalized betting market, and books are looking to protect themselves from the swathe of Rangers fans and bettors that would hammer a heavily plus-sided series price.
Winnipeg Jets Series ML ( +140) vs. Las Vegas Golden Knights
The Winnipeg Jets will face off against the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Both the Jets and the Golden Knights started their seasons off in better form, but both have struggled down the stretch of the season.
The Winnipeg Jets were recently battling to keep themselves in a playoff position, and I believe the intensity of those games prepared the team for the playoffs. Hellebuyck rose to the occasion, and the offense came alive in key moments.
The Golden Knights have looked much less dominant in the latter half of the NHL season. Since the All-Star break the Golden Knights have won a series of close games and will be relying on Laurent Brossoit to propel them to victory in the playoffs.
Brossoit started in 10 games for the Golden Knights and sported a very respectable .927 save percentage, 2.17 goals against average, and a 7-0-3 record.
Game 1 will be Brossoitt’s first playoff start and will be facing his former team and starting goalie. Brossoit would more than like to prove his old team wrong, and how the goalie plays in the series will be a storyline to follow.
