Don’t Go Too Crazy in March Madness

March Madness is one of the most bet on sporting events of the year and is a great way to make some quick money. Everyone knows March Madness for the crazy upset and Cinderella runs. However, this article will explain why you shouldn’t get too crazy with your upset picks.

5 Seed vs. 12 Seed

This is one of the best underdog picks since the 12 seeds have done historically well against five seeds. The 12 seeds sometimes are mid majors with great records, or power five teams that have talent but struggle in the regular season.

The mid majors can prove everyone wrong and always are hungry for their chance, while the power five teams with talent are streaking but if they get hot could be your sweet sixteen cinderella. However, don’t pick them to go farther than that.

No team seeded 12 or lower has made the final four and don’t expect that to start this year. Also 5 seeds are usually teams that feel at the end of the year and are cold heading into the March Madness tournament.

If You Need a Cinderella in the Final Four Pick the 11 Seed

The only team that you can point to on several occasions make a final four run based on seeding are 8 and 9 seeds, and for some reason 11 seeds always are ready to wreak havoc for people boards come march.

LSU in 1986, George Mason in 2006, VCU in 2011, Loyola Chicago in 2018, and UCLA in 2020. These teams all fit the same description for the 12 seeds which is why they always are seeded so close together, but for some reason the 11 seeds are the ones that find final four success.

The crazy thing is a 10 seed has only made the final four once when Syracuse did so in 2016. It may not make sense that a higher seed has less success but listen to this advice when filling out your bracket.

Pick a One Seed to Fall in the Round of 32

Always pick a one seed to fall early in the tournament. As well as never having all number one seeds make the final four because it has only happened once in 2008 with Kansas, North Carolina, UCLA, and Memphis.

The crazy thing about March Madness is the upsets and the number one seeds have the biggest target on their back every year. Expect an 8 or 9 seed to knock off a one seed this march and be ready to brag to your friends when it happens.

Overall, the rules are simple, have upsets but don’t go too crazy this March Madness. Also, please don’t pick a 16 seed to beat a one seed though; that won’t happen again for a while.
