Bets during Baseball Season

The Case for Betting the Phoenix Suns, Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, and Cam Johnson

Last season, the Phoenix Suns set a franchise record for wins and were the best team in the league during the regular season at (64-18). With the letdown of losing the 2021 NBA Finals to the Milwaukee Bucks, getting back to the Finals was the impetus of the Suns’ stellar season.

Unfortunately for Phoenix and their fans, the Suns’ record-setting season abruptly came to an end in the Western Conference Finals, thanks in large part to Luka Doncic’s 35 points and Spencer Dinwiddie, who exploded for 30 points off the bench in the Mavericks’ Game 7 victory.

The Suns became just the third team to win 64 or more games and not reach the Conference Finals. The other teams to do so were the 2006-07 Dallas Mavericks and the 2015-16 San Antonio Spurs.

NBA Futures Odds for the Phoenix Suns

With just one week to go before the 2022-23 NBA season tips off on Tuesday, October 18, the majority of sportsbooks currently have the Phoenix Suns at around +1100 odds to win the 2023 NBA Finals. The best odds given at the moment are from Caesar’s Sportsbook at +1300.

According to the DraftKings sportsbook, the Suns are currently at +500 odds to win the 2023 Western Conference Finals, ranked behind only the Warriors and Clippers, whose odds are +330 and +340, respectively.

The total over/under wins for the Suns is currently at 52.5. The over is priced at +105. Given the distractions Phoenix has faced this offseason and the appearance that all is not well in the locker room, many bettors will take the under here. Worth noting is that the Suns will have the league’s second-easest schedule based on their opponents’ combined win total from last season.

Phoenix Suns Player Futures

Devin Booker finished fourth in voting for the 2021-22 Kia NBA Most Valuable Player behind winner Nikola Jokić and second and third-place vote-getters Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo. DraftKings sportsbook has Booker at +3000 odds to win the 2023 NBA MVP.

Cameron Johnson is expected to make a giant leap this season and may even end up starting at the power forward position for Phoenix. He is considered a dark horse to win the 2023 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award. The odds of Johnson winning the Sixth Man of the Year are currently at +2500.

Finishing second last season in overall votes for Defensive Player of the Year, Mikal Bridges received 202 points, behind only DPOY winner Marcus Smart, who finished with 257 votes. This year, the odds for Bridges to win the esteemed award is at +1500 odds.

NBA Futures Odds are constantly changing. In the offseason, trades and free agent signings are some of the bigger factors influencing betting odds. Recent scores, standings, player injuries, and mid-season trades can and will impact the NBA Finals’ odds during the season. If you are looking to get into betting on basketball, NBA Futures is a great way to get your feet wet, and, hopefully, win some money too.
