Best NBA Futures Bets: Betting on the NBA Championship
As things currently stand, the Brooklyn Nets still have the best chance to win the NBA championship, as they’re currently listed with odds of +185, according to vegasinsider.com. The next team that has the best chance to win are the Los Angeles Lakers, who, of course, won the NBA championship last season down in the Orlando bubble.
It’s becoming more and more apparent that the Nets are the team to beat this season. In two games against the Boston Celtics so far this postseason, it just seems like the Nets have been toying with them.
In their Game 2 win against the Celtics, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving put up eight points apiece in the first quarter, as they’re expected to set the tone early. However, James Harden ended up attempting no field goal or free-throw attempts in the opening period, as Joe Harris ended up being the one who ignited the Nets with 16 points, including 4-of-4 shooting from 3-point range.
Harden still ended up with 20 points on the night, so it goes to show that he knows exactly which spots he needs to score in and when to allow others to step up. He’s the glue that keeps this team together, and that team still has two superstars who are extremely efficient at scoring the ball.

The Lakers, as things currently stand, are pretty hobbled. LeBron James is working his way back from a high ankle sprain injury, as he said himself that he expects it to hinder him for the entire postseason. There’s a good chance we see the Lakers in the Finals, but it’s going to be very hard for them to stop a team of three superstars.
The Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers have the next best odds to win the championship in the Eastern Conference, but while they could take a couple of games from the Nets, they likely don’t have enough to take them down in a 7-game series.
The Bucks do have a great supporting cast around two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, as they built that team up nicely with plenty of shooters and wing defenders, but it’s going to take everything literally to click on all cylinders to beat Brooklyn.
Philadelphia, on the other hand, has Joel Embiid, who can dominate inside the paint or make you think twice about leaving him open behind the arc, and an efficient scorer in Tobias Harris that can burn you in the mid-range. If the Nets get too lazy and turn the ball over, then Ben Simmons can take advantage and get out in transition for easy points. Philly has enough to put up a fight, but all things would need to click on all cylinders for them as well to beat Brooklyn.
The Utah Jazz have the second-best odds in the Western Conference, but they’re struggling to put away the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round as things currently stand. They’re a good story for the regular season, but it would be shocking if they even beat the Lakers in these playoffs.
Having said all of that, Brooklyn is the clear-cut favorite to win the championship this season.
