What would a team of Braves and Astros combined look like?

Before the Astros and Braves do battle in the World Series, let’s take a peek at what a lineup would look like if the two teams became one.

Jose Altuve or Ozzie Albies, Eddie Rosario or Michael Brantley, are amongst the tough decisions that have to be made to make an Astros/Braves combo team.

Infield

First base is an easy decision. Although Yuli Gurriel is a very underrated player, give me Freddie Freeman any day of the week. Freeman might be the best player in the series. If they could only face left-handed pitching, Ozzie Albies would be my pick here.

He is one of the best in the game against lefties. I’ll take Jose Altuve to fill this spot. Austin Riley has developed into one of the most underrated players in baseball. I’ll take him over Bregman, who struggled against Boston.

Carlos Correa is the shortstop of our combo team. Dansby Swanson has made strides as a franchise shortstop for the Braves, but he is still not on Correa’s level.

First base: Freddie Freeman
Second base: Jose Altuve
Third base: Austin Riley
Shortstop: Carlos Correa
Outfield

Eddie Rosario is coming off one of the best league championship series in MLB history. It would be hard to leave him off this team. Michael Brantley is a great player, but it’s hard to pick against Rosario now.

I’ll take Adam Duvall over the cast of characters in center field for the Astros. It’s hard to put a member of the Astros in this position if you can’t pick out who will play there this series.

Kyle Tucker is the right fielder. Joc Pederson has had some great moments this postseason, but Tucker, similar to Austin Riley, has become one of the most underrated players in baseball. Look for him to have a big series.

Left field: Eddie Rosario
Center field: Adam Duvall
Right field: Kyle Tucker

Catcher and Designated Hitter

Both catchers have struggled at the plate this season, but have controlled the pitching staffs at an elite level. I’ll take Travis d’Arnaud because of his higher upside at the plate.

Jorge Soler will likely do the designated hitting for Atlanta, but he won’t be in our made up lineup. Yordan Alvarez can’t make an out right now.

Starting Pitcher and Relief Pitcher

If I had to pick one starter from either team, I’m going with Charlie Morton. He’s been great in big games, and shown up in a big way this postseason. However, if Luis Garcia pitches like he did in game 6 against Boston, he’s the best in this series.

Although I might favor Atlanta’s bullpen as a whole, Ryan Pressly is the best individual reliever in this series. That could be enough to help Houston to another title.
