Here’s Why the Toronto Blue Jays Will Win the American League
The Blue Jays have added significant depth to an already insanely talented roster. Read to find out why a future bet on Toronto for American League champs could make you some serious money.
Here’s Why the Toronto Blue Jays Will Win the American League
After missing the 2021 postseason by an eyelash, the Toronto Blue Jays have taken no prisoners this offseason. They were a top offense in baseball in 2021 and have now added All-Star and Gold Glove third baseman Matt Chapman to the lineup.
Starting pitching, which was the big question mark for Toronto in the offseason has been improved significantly by the re-signing of trade deadline acquisition Jose Berrios as well as 2021 All-Stars Kevin Gausman and Yusei Kikuchi.
The confidence on this Blue Jays’ ballclub couldn’t be higher right now; and with good reason. This is going to be a special season for Toronto and the sky’s the limit. That may very well mean their first trip to the World Series since 1993.
The Competition
The Blue Jays have used the offseason to establish themselves as one of the best teams in the American League and in baseball, generally. Right now Caesar’s Sportsbook has this team tied with the Yankees and White Sox and just behind the Astros for the 2nd best odds to win the AL pennant at +550.
The only reason the Houston Astros are favorites to win the AL is because they’ve done so three out of the last five seasons. However, the fact of the matter is that the Astros made no significant offseason moves other than to sign starting pitcher Justin Verlander. Verlander, 39, has pitched just 6 innings since 2020 due to injury.
The Yankees will always be favored because of their name, but they have problems right now. Starting pitching and no reliable catcher are going to hold the Yanks back until they can find a fix. Sure, the offense is always solid, but it’ll take more than Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton to win the pennant.
The White Sox have an all-around solid ballclub but they got exposed as frauds by the Astros in the American League Division Series last season. Similarly to the Yankees, Chicago’s biggest weakness this season will be starting pitching.
They lost left-handed starter Carlos Rodon to the Giants in free agency and their ace is soon to be 35 year old Lance Lynn. Lynn had a good 2021 but he’s not going to take you to a pennant. Behind him is Lucas Giolito who’s a good, but streaky pitcher.
The White Sox have an electric offense powered by guys like shortstop Tim Anderson, first baseman Jose Abreu and third baseman Yoan Moncada . They also have what is arguably the best bullpen in baseball.
It may seem like a bold prediction, but The Blue Jays’ two biggest competitors for AL Champ this season will be the Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners.
American League Heavyweights
When it comes to AL dominance, nobody is going to compare to the Blue Jays this season. They’re the most well-rounded team in the AL and a top five ballclub in major league baseball.
Beyond a significantly improved starting rotation, the name of the game for the Blue Jays is offense. Lots of offense.
The formidable nature of Toronto’s lineup is rivaled by only the Los Angeles Dodgers. Headlined by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., this is a Blue Jays offense that finished 2nd in team batting average, runs batted in and hits and finished as top dogs in home runs with 262.
In addition to Guerrero Jr, Toronto also has incredibly skilled bats in Teoscar Hernandez, Bo Bichette and George Springer. Guerrero Jr, Hernandez and Bichette all received AL MVP votes last season with Guerrero Jr. finishing 2nd.
The ball will be flying out of the park for the Blue Jays yet again in 2022 and their pitching will be consistent enough to win at least 95 games. Guerrero Jr. stated about the Blue Jays recently, “Last year was the trailer. What you are going to see this year is the movie.”
+550 is incredible value for this team to win the AL pennant right now and bettors should be hammering that. Put $100 on the Blue Jays to win the American League and you will be $550 richer in October.
