DeGrom is still dealing with some soreness in his shoulder but has toughed through it to continue to pitch amazingly for the Mets.
Game 2 of the day had Jared Eickhoff starting on the mound for the Mets versus Ian Anderson for the Braves. The Braves pitching staff pitched a shutout game leading to a 1-0 win off of a Ronald Acuna Jr. home run, continuing his great season.
Braves vs Mets Prediction: Keys for the Final Game of the Series
The projected pitching duel will feature right-handed pitcher Kyle Wright on the bump for the Braves and left-handed pitcher David Peterson on the mound for the Mets.
Kyle Wright has been just about as average as you can be on the mound. His ERA is sitting at 4.15 on the season, and he has yet to record a decision on the season sitting at 0-0.
David Peterson, on the other hand, has been the weakness of this New York Mets starting rotation. To be fair to him, anyone looks like a weakness compared to the almighty Jacob deGrom. Peterson is 2-5 on the year with a 5.31 ERA.
The Mets have been held scoreless in their last two games against two pitchers that aren’t pitching out of this world this year.

They are led on the offensive end by Pete Alonso, who has 11 home runs and 35 RBIs on the year with a batting average that has hovered around .250.
For the Braves, it’s all about Ronald Acuna Jr., Freddie Freeman, and Ozzie Albies, all sitting at the top of the Braves batting order.
Acuna Jr. reached 20 homers on the year with his solo shot on Monday. He also has 45 RBIs on the year. Both of those numbers are good enough to lead the Braves. After a 0-5 night last night, expect him to be a bigger factor in this one.
Braves vs Mets Prediction
After two scoreless outings, you have to assume that the Mets will at least get one run on the board in this one, especially against Kyle Wright, who is at the bottom of the Braves rotation.
The aforementioned top three of the Braves lineup should also be able to get to David Peterson early and potentially push him off the mound and get to the Mets bullpen.
If they can do that, they will be able to work against a bullpen unit that had to put in a lot of work in last night’s game.
Due to the Mets’ inability to get runs this series, and realistically all year, it is always hard to bet on them without Stroman or deGrom on the mound.
As mentioned earlier, the Braves should be able to take advantage of the Mets bullpen, and I think they break away in the latter half of this game.
