Toledo +2.5 at Buffalo 2/19

Toledo headed into Buffalo with the best record in MAC basketball. Before this matchup, senior guard Marreon Jackson had a crazy night against Miami, Ohio, notching a triple-double.

He had 18 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. It was only the fourth triple-double in the school’s history.

Buffalo has four players averaging over 13.8 PPG. Buffalo is ranked the 6th best team at defending the three-point line; however, Toledo is the best three-point shooting team in the MAC.

Buffalo forward Jeenathan Williams tried everything to keep the team in the game scoring 18 points and grabbing 8 rebounds (9-13 from the field). However, four of the five starters were in double figures in points. The four players shot lights out on the court, with Marreon Jackson leading the way (8-13 from the field).

Toledo was in control from tip-off. They walked into the locker room with an eight-point cushion. 40-32. Both halves were filled with action on the offensive end; both teams scored a total of 78 points in the second half.

Miami Ohio -5.5 at Northern Illinois 2/20

The ending of the game was brutal because it ended up being a backdoor cover for Northern Illinois. It was so bad it ended up on Scott Van Pelt’s Bad Beat segment on ESPN. If you bet a little earlier, you might have been able to get the -4.5 line, which would have still been a sweat until the sound of the buzzer.

Miami Ohio was up by 7 points with 29 seconds remaining in the game. One would imagine that Northern Illinois would foul or let Miami Ohio dribble out the clock after Northern Illinois Trendon Hankerson of Northern Illinois missed a 3 point shot and Miami getting the defensive rebound.

However, Dae Dae Grant turned the ball over. Tyler Cohran was able to get a quick layup. Miami was up by 5. Northern Illinois still did not want to foul, and Miami wanted to score one last basket. Myja White layup was blocked, and to be honest; it did not look like a clean block. With a few seconds on the clock, Miami, Ohio, let the clock run out.

Eastern Michigan +13.5 at Kent State 2/20

Kent State was a heavy favorite in this matchup, and many bettors might have lost due to the hook. Both teams were tied at the break making EMU bettors happy, while Kent State bettors went into halftime disappointed.

Eastern Michigan had a season-low of 28 points this season. On the other side, Giovanni Santiago had 12 points and seven assists. To add to that, Tervell Beck had 12 points, and Justyn Hamilton had nine rebounds in the one-sided second half to earn Kent State, which earned its fourth straight win at the time.

Yeikson Montero had 15 points and five steals in the effort to keep the game competitive. His teammates Ty Groce added 13 points with eight rebounds, and Miles Gibson had 12 points in the losing effort.
