One of the biggest games of the weekend will be on Saturday night as the Auburn Tigers head into Happy Valley to take on the Penn State Nittany Lions. This is a matchup between two teams that are 2-0 and ranked within the top 25. Auburn and Penn State have both handled their opponents thus far and this game will be a big early-season test for both of these teams.
Auburn has outscored its two opponents 122-10 this season. They have faced Akron and Alabama State this year, however. Those two schools are not the best competition you can find. Penn State has beaten #16 Wisconsin 16-10 to open the year and then easily took out Ball State. They are averaging 30 points a game and giving up 11.5 points a game. This game is going to be a really solid barometer for both of these squads.

Even though Penn State has come into the week with the tougher competition, Auburn is really good. With the James Franklin to USC rumors this week it is hard to not think that Penn State could be a little distracted.

Auburn’s offense is really good so I think that will come out firing while their defense shows the ability to lock up Penn State. I don’t think that Auburn will win the game but I think it will be really close due to distractions for Penn State.

Penn State just does not lose “White Out” games at home on Saturday nights. Auburn will be pumped up for this game but Penn State will find a way to win in the end. Penn State has already been tested this year so I think that will really help them in this game. They are really solid at stopping the run and I think that will force Auburn to pass the ball more than they’d like. I would take Penn State on the moneyline.

Both of these teams can score the ball and both of these teams can play defense. Usually, good defense beats good offense and I think that will be the case at times in this game. Look for both of these teams to come out early, but struggle to continually put drives together. Really intrigued by this over/under but I think at 53 points we hit the over, although it can very well go either way.

The two props that I like the best in this one are Auburn over 23.5 points and Penn State under 29.5 points. I think that these two teams will be very close throughout and could see something like a 30-24 score. I think Auburn wins the game but regardless they should very easily score over 23.5 points.
