Falcons vs Midshipmen Prediction & NCAA Football Odds for September 11th / Week 2

  • Navy controls the ball for more than 40 minutes
  • Air Force passes the ball for more than 100 yards
  • Navy runs for more than 400 yards in the game

In the first battle of academies, the Air Force Falcons travel to take on the Navy Midshipmen. Air Force easily won their season opener over FCS opponent Lafayette. Air Force rushed for 385 yards on the ground and looked very good on offense despite throwing just five times. Air Force looked pretty shaky on the defensive side of the ball as they allowed Lafayette to throw for nearly 250 yards. However, Air Force’s pass defense did not look as bad as Navy’s pass defense.

Navy allowed 363 yards through the air and Marshall passed for 14 first downs. With Navy holding the ball for 41 minutes, that is not a very efficient defensive attack. Navy’s quarterbacks also struggled when they were forced to throw the ball as the quarterbacks combined to be just 5-of-16 with two interceptions.

Falcons vs Midshipmen Prediction: Spread

Both of these teams looked shaky on defense defending the pass this past weekend but the bright spot for this game is that both teams are extremely run heavy. Navy did have a ton of trouble against Marshall in a lot of different facets of the game and they were quickly in the hole 28-0 in that one.

The Navy quarterback situation is not one to be proud of right now and if they have to start throwing the ball I am not sure who will be able to get it down the field. For that reason, I am taking Air Force to cover the spread.

Falcons vs Midshipmen Prediction: MoneyLine

Even though the Air Force moneyline is -240, I do not think they are a lock to win it. I think you can get a lot of value by taking Navy +195 since they are playing at home and have always been a strong team at home. Air Force did blow Navy out last year and could very well do so again this year but I think that Navy should be at better than +195 odds in this one. I would place a unit on Navy and hope that they can pull it out.

  • Free Prediction: Navy +195

Falcons vs Midshipmen Prediction: Total

The over/under for this game is at 43 points and even with it that low, it still feels like these teams will hit the under. The possessions will be at a premium and both teams like to slow it down and grind out the game. Without much passing you won’t have a ton of chunk plays which will slow the game down even more. I think that this one is going to be a low scoring contest and each team will only possess the ball five or six times. It feels like a 21-14 type game.

Prop Predictions

There are a few interesting prop bets for this game. I think the easiest to bet is going to be the team to score first. I think Air Force is the better team and if they get the ball first then they are almost a lock to score. Navy is not a lock to score first so I would roll with Air Force to score in the game first.

  • Free Prediction: Air Force to score first (-160)
