Who to bet on in the MLB Subway Series
History of the Subway Series
The Subways Series historically got its name from the 2000 World Series between the New York Mets and New York Yankees. The Yankees won this world series in 5 games and the rivalry has carried on ever since.
The Yankees have won this series 11 times vs the Mets 3 times. Every time the Subway Series gets around New York Fans get extremely excited and devoted to these games as the rivalry takes over completely. Having both teams represent the state of New York in different burrows creates a fiery and fierce rivalry where the games can get quite chippy.
Beef between Teams
Last year things did not only get chippy between the fans but the players as well. The Mets won this subway Series where Fransico Lindor made history in a truly exciting game at Citifield.
In this game, Lindor was able to go 3-4 with 3 home runs and 5 runs batted in. Lindor hit his first home run which was a 3-run shot to take a 4-2 lead. He then hit a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth and the Mets took a 6-4 lead where the Yankees would later tie it up 6-6. In the Bottom of the eighth Lindor hit his 3rd homer of the game taking a 7-6 lead which was enough to give the Mets the win.
During this game, the fans were chirping each other as well as the players. There was a point in the game where Lindor and Stanton were exchanging trash talk and almost even fought. I’m expecting the same atmosphere in this game on Tuesday.
I do believe that this will be one of the most entertaining regular seasons Subway Series since both teams are on top of the league. The Yankees are in first overall place with 61 wins and 33 losses. The Mets are in fifth place overall with a record of 59 wins and 37 losses.
Since both teams are top five in the league fans have been going at each other for who is the best team in New York. With both teams being so talented it will make for a great game.
Betting line
The betting line is open at New York Mets favorited at a line at -115 Moneyline and the Yankees at -105 Moneyline. The Yankees are pitching Jordan Montgomery who has a 3-2 record over 5 games with an ERA of .324, 88 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.05. The Mets are pitching Taijaun Walker who is 7-2 in the first 9 starts with a 2.55 ERA, 73 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 1.09.
Taijaun is the better pitcher and with the Mets playing at home, my pick for this game is Mets Moneyline at -115. I predict that they win both two games in the Subway Series Matchup as Max Sherzer is pitching in the second game where the line has not yet been announced but the line will be in favor of the Mets.
