Taphorn’s Twelve Pack: NFL Week 10

Here’s your weekly twelve pack of NFL betting advice, drink at your own risk. Crack open six NFL Week 10 bets that I like and six bets that I don’t and pray for a great weekend without a hangover.

Week 9 Record: 4-2; +2 units; Year-to-date Record: 34-19-1; +11.0 units

6 Bets I Like

1. Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts -10.5. The Jags pulled off the upset of the week against the Bills, but something tells me they won’t have that magic two weeks in a row. The Colts have been playing well and have a few extra days of rest at home. Colts win big. Bet amount: 1 unit.

2. New Orleans Saints at Tennessee Titans -2.5. Sticking in the AFC South, how about the Titans? Tennessee has been a buzz saw going through high quality teams as of late including last week against the Rams without Derrick Henry. The Saints were able to beat the Bucs without Jameis Winston but then fell to the Falcons a week ago. The Titans behind Tannehill cover at home. Bet amount: ½ unit.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers -9.5 at Washington Football Team. Certainly Tom Brady didn’t spend the bye week stewing over getting beat by a third string quarterback right? There’s a good chance the GOAT feels the need to get back on track against the league’s worst pass defense. Bet amount: 2 units.

4. Kansas City Chiefs -2.5 at Las Vegas Raiders. Every week I wait for the Chiefs to flip that switch and look like the Chiefs of the previous two seasons. It didn’t happen against the Packers without Aaron Rodgers last week; can they get right against the Raiders who have had more turmoil in the past month than most teams have in five years? Bet amount: 2 units.

5. Buffalo Bills -12 at New York Jets. Speaking of not looking like themselves, Josh Allen (the Bills version) needs a bounce back week in the worst way. His name twin for the Jaguars got the better of their matchup, now the Bills need to right the ship against the Jets. A good team to draw if you’re in need of a pick me up. Bet amount: ½ unit.

6. Los Angeles Rams -4 at San Francisco 49ers. The Rams are starting to build their team like an NBA squad. Mid-season acquisitions of former All-Pro veterans hoping to chase a ring, has led Los Angeles to picking up Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr. Miller didn’t play, and Beckham wasn’t acquired last week when the Titans came to town and put a beat down on them. Bet amount: 1 unit.

6 Bets to Avoid

1. Atlanta Falcons at Dallas Cowboys -9. If not for the Bills, Dallas would have had the most disappointing showing of the weekend. The Broncos crushed the Cowboys in their own building and in come the Falcons after a win over the Saints.

2. Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots -1.5. These two teams will be fighting for a wild card spot in the AFC. Mac Jones and the Patriots are starting to become a team to be feared, and Baker looks effective even with the loss of Odell Beckham Jr. This game has the potential to be game of the week across the league.

3. Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Chargers -3. Go ahead and get the popcorn ready for this one. The Vikings only play in dramatic games, and more often than not those have resulted in losses for Minnesota. Expect a close one in LA.

4. Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals -10. The Panthers have beaten the Cardinals six straight times and have done so by a large margin in most of those contests. The quarterback situation in Carolina is a mess right now so it may not matter how Kyler Murray’s ankle is feeling, but ten is a lot to cover.

5. Philadelphia Eagles at Denver Broncos -2.5. This one is just a matter of which version of each team shows up. Denver started 3-0 and looked fantastic against Dallas last week, but the weeks in between have been scary. Philadelphia has shown signs of life, but their record is closer to being on life support.

6. Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers -3.5. Is Russell Wilson coming back? Is Aaron Rodgers cleared to play? If both are back this could be a fun game, but if not let’s just call it a tie and move on to the next week.
